Hackers need to keep looking for ways to have effective attacks because Phishing for them is big business.

They are crafty and a lot of the time smart in not wanting to waste time setting up fake pages and templates to land in a dead email address.

So, what do they do? Well like a salesman they start to size up the target and get an idea of the prize before they attack.

They sometimes do a thing called Probe Emails to figure out how active a user is and to ensure it is not a bot on the other end.

 In the past months since Covid-19 and a lot of people losing jobs and companies shutting the doors probe emails have increased dramatically, Hackers do not want to waste time.

Probes are basically test emails sent by spammer/scammers to find out if a real person is opening the email on the other end.

 Probe emails are often legitimate information on a topic because they do not want it to rise a barrier or have anyone feel suspicious.

If a hacker is happy with the response then they start to creep in with the Phishing for personal details, Banking or just to have access to remotely control a machine which is common for a lot of companies especially during the pandemic and people working from home.

It is one thing to be on the lookout for Phishing emails and that might be something you and your team handle very well but are you as observing to probe emails? Would you even know that someone was using this approach on you?
