LinkedIn have released a statement admitting that in 2012 "it was the victim of an unauthorized access and disclosure of some members' passwords. At the time their response included a mandatory password reset for all accounts they believed were compromised as a result of the unauthorized disclosure. Additionally, they advised all members of LinkedIn to change their passwords as a matter of best practice”.
Today is the 4th annual World Password Day which occurs on the first Thursday in May and it presents a good opportunity to raise awareness of passwords among your organisation's staff. Passwords are a critical security feature which help protect your organisation's information and having a good password will help protect that information from criminals who want to access it.
