Researchers have come across a security flaw in the way Office 365 email filters are designed to handle HTML code which has resulted in hackers getting malicious links into the mailboxes of end users. The hackers used an incredibly simple trick to get malicious URLs to bypass Office 365 mail filters, by splitting up the malicious links by using a <base> URL tag.
Microsoft Office 365 had an outage on Friday which left users without email throughout Europe, the US and the Asia-Pacific. Microsoft users who tried to access their accounts on Friday got the message “Service is temporarily unavailable. Please retry later.” UK users were hit hard with one user complaining that they could send or receive emails for over 14 hours.
A red weather warning has only been issued on six occasions since the system was introduced in Ireland in 2013 – and only for rainstorms, never for snow until last week. The fact that there have been two red weather warnings in the past 4 months and only 4 in the previous 5 years is a worrying trend. With businesses closing for days at a time, they need to be more prepared for these adverse weather conditions.

The latest Microsoft Office 365 outage which occurred yesterday morning, impacted both Office 365 and Outlook users across the UK and Europe. It wasn’t the ideal start to the working week with many Office 365 users complaining of technical difficulties for most of Monday morning, with Outlook subscribers reporting connectivity issues and lag times until late in the day.
Several of Microsoft’s online services suffered outages yesterday for several hours across the UK, Europe and the US. According to the official website, the services which were impacted included Outlook.com, Office 365, Xbox Live gaming and Skype.
The latest Microsoft Office 365 outage caused emails to pile up in the outboxes of business customers in the US just as they were preparing for the 4th of July bank holiday weekend. Last Thursday user began to flood Twitter with complaints, after noticing that their incoming emails had slowed and their outgoing emails were starting to gather in their outbox, stating that their online exchange and Outlook services were unresponsive.
